After losing a fortune due to a petty argument with his boss, Nathan Flomm (David), a former marketing executive at a start-up electric car company, is publicly humiliated for walking away from his 10 percent of a company now worth billions. Ten years later, his marriage over and reputation ruined, Nathan has changed his identity and lives a simple life on a small island off the coast of Massachusetts under the new name of Rolly DaVore. But when his former boss shows up to renovate his summer mansion, Nathan vows to seek his revenge and drive his nemesis off the island.

Directed by Greg Mottola, “Clear History” is written by Larry David, Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer. Executive producers are Greg Mottola, Bradley Thomas, Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer. Monica Levinson produces. Laura Streicher is associate producer.

“HBO is thrilled to be shooting such a great film in Massachusetts. The state’s terrific crews, talent base and natural beauty perfectly complement the vision of our extraordinary filmmakers and cast,” said HBO Films president Len Amato.

“We’re thrilled to be here. Our apologies in advance for anyone Larry will most definitely offend,” said executive producer Bradley Thomas.

This is the seventh major production to choose Massachusetts in 2012.

“We are very excited to have Larry David and HBO in Massachusetts. This is the first time we have worked with HBO and hope it is the beginning of a beautiful friendship,” said Lisa Strout, director of the Massachusetts Film Office. “Our strong incentive program, our experienced crew and talent, and outstanding locations continue to be a winning combination.”

MFO remains committed to ensuring Massachusetts is a choice destination for film, television, and commercial investment and maximizing the return on investment of the film tax credit program.

P3 Update Magazine recently ranked Massachusetts in the Top 10 locations worldwide and last year Boston was named the Top City for film production in the United States, both highly coveted distinctions. In 2011, the feature films shot in the Commonwealth generated an aggregated spend of $222 million, according to Department of Revenue estimates. On the NBC/Universal film, “R.I.P.D.” alone, over 900 local crew members were hired, as well as over 1,000 background actors.
