Internships

The Massachusetts Film Office (MFO) is the state agency that markets the Commonwealth as a location for feature films and television projects. Recent films the MFO worked on include Little Women, Knives Out and Free Guy. The MFO works within the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT).

We offer three internship opportunities, spring, summer and fall. We hire 1-2 interns that assist the MFO in film related projects. 

Duties may include:

        • • Location breakdown of feature film and television scripts
          • Updating media and film industry databases
          • Fulfilling location photography requests for potential productions

        •  Assist MFO staff with special projects

Internships are for school credit ONLY and MUST be confirmed with proper paperwork from an accredited college/university. Students should be entering either their junior or senior year of college or be a graduate student majoring in film or television production. The internship is unpaid and the candidate must work at least 15 hours per week. Typically our internships are for an entire semester. Submissions for the spring semester close November 10, with the internship beginning in January.

Submissions for the summer semester close March 10, with the internship beginning in May.

Submissions for the fall semester close July 10, with the internship beginning in September

For the time being our internships will be entirely remote. However, you must be in Massachusetts as we send you out to do location scouting.

For international intern applicants, please note, our office will not be responsible for assisting any applicant with a VISA to work in the United States.
