The series from Stephen King is set in Maine, but made in this state.
One of the attention-grabbing commercials that aired during the first half of the 2018 Super Bowl was a frightening one for “Castle Rock,” the new Hulu series from Stephen King. While the show is based in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine (featured in several of King’s novels, including “The Dead Zone” and “Cujo”), “Castle Rock” is actually made in Massachusetts.
According to IMDb Pro, the show filmed its first season in Orange and Lancaster. The Boston Globe reports that “Castle Rock” is likely the first show to have primary filming in the state in nearly 30 years.
“Castle Rock” is the second collaboration between King, J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”), and Hulu, after last fall’s time-traveling Kennedy assassination drama “11.22.63.” Starring André Holland (“Moonlight”), Sissy Spacek (“Carrie”), and Bill Skarsgård (“It”), “Castle Rock” will arrive on Hulu this summer.
