For starters, the grand property isn’t located on Nantucket.
Netflix just released the teaser trailer for the upcoming mystery drama series The Perfect Couple, and while we’re eager to see how the tale unravels, we’re zeroing in on its luxury island setting: a grand shingle-style mansion on Nantucket. Naturally, we want to know everything about the extravagant filming location, where a wealthy family wedding affair turns into a crime scene investigation. Below, take a look at what we know about where the six-episode season was filmed ahead of its September 5 release date.
Where Was The Perfect Couple Filmed?
While the story is set in Nantucket, it wasn’t actually filmed on the summer destination. Instead, filming took place at another sophisticated coastal spot: Chatham on Cape Cod.
In an interview with Boston.com, author Elin Hildebrand—who wrote the book of the same name that the series is based on—said, “Because the majority of The Perfect Couple was filmed on location in Chatham, the production will have an authentic Cape and island feel.”
She added that the crew visited Nantucket to take B-roll footage to fuel the illusion. “The script includes inside references to places like Bartlett’s Farm,” she added. “Hollywood legend Fred North took overhead footage in his helicopter, and he later messaged me and said it was one of the most beautiful places he’s ever shot.”

While we don’t have details on the home that was tapped for filming quite yet, we know its fictional name is Summerland. According to the wedding invitation for the series on Tudum’s website, the fictional estate has “a select number of cottages” inside of its gates “for close friends and family in the wedding party” to stay in. Others are encouraged to stay at The Wauwinet, which is a real oceanfront resort in Nantucket, and to avoid the Sand Dollar Motel.
The attention to detail helps make it seem like the series was fully filmed on Nantucket. Apart from the accommodations, the invitation lets guests know that Nantucket is a “dollhouse town” and “coastal utopia” with “cobblestone streets and cedar-shingled, white-trimmed mansions lining the shore.” It notes there’s plenty for visitors to do, including exploring Sconset Beach, visiting Brant Point Lighthouse, strolling through Bartlett’s Farm, or going on one of the family’s custom boats. “This town is your oyster,” it reads.
