It used to be a place where people go to see movies, but all week the film “Daddy’s Home 2” has been shooting at the Showcase Cinemas in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Wearing a couple of pretty hideous Christmas sweaters, movie stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg spent some time filming inside a Concord, Massachusetts candy shop Wednesday.

Boston has been a star in two recent high-profile films, Peter Berg’s “Patriots Day,” the director’s latest collaboration with Mark Wahlberg, and Ben Affleck’s “Live by Night”. The two films have more than the city in common, though — they share the same location manager, Mark Fitzgerald, a native of Framingham, Mass., whose deep knowledge of the area helped both projects.

All of them are real places where Oscar-nominated movies were filmed.

With “Manchester by the Sea,” Amazon Studios has made history, becoming the first streaming service to land a best picture Oscar nomination.
