PEM PRESENTS: American Epics: Thomas Hart Benton & Hollywood Exhibit

The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) presents the first major traveling exhibition about American painter Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975) in more than 25 years. American Epics: Thomas Hart Benton and Hollywood explores how the motion picture industry influenced and ignited Benton’s creative imagination. Melding Old Master European painting traditions with Hollywood’s cinematic and production techniques, Benton reinvented 20th-century American narratives and captivated the public with his signature brand of visual storytelling.

2014 BLUECAT SCREENPLAY COMPETITION CALL FOR ENTRIES

The 2014 BlueCat Screenplay Competition is now accepting feature and short screenplay submissions. This year’s competition will award a Grand Prize of $15,000 for Best Feature Screenplay and $10,000 for Best Short Screenplay – the world’s largest cash prize for shorts!

Thrash-Lab is going viral, and wants to showcase YOUR original videos on their premiere YouTube channel for maximum exposure. If you have “Never Before Seen Footage/Original Content” that you’re ready to show the world, they would love to hear from you! They plan on featuring the TOP 350 videos on the site and the best 3 will be rewarded a prize!

“Calling My Children” is an intimate portrayal of the effects of love and loss on one family’s struggle for unity. Gail Farrow was a 27-year-old woman, the mother of four sons, who was living with and who died of AIDS in 1989. David Binder began this project in 1988 when, as a photojournalist, he first started photographing Gail, with whom he spent a year and half every day documenting her last year of life and her family’s adjustment to their lives without her.
